Drunken Sailor

Yup, Olivia is doing the "drunken sailor" new walker walk! She has been taking a few steps here and there, but today she walked about 6 feet without falling. Once she did that, she became much more interested in walking, and tried often. This is a short video clip of her trying!

Effective Bumbo Sitting Positions

Ours was gifted to us by Becky, Michael, Luke, Joey and Mason. They're supposed to help younger babies sit upright to check out the world around them. Olivia demonstrates how not to get into one. She was not amused while Daddy went to get the camera. :-)

We just got back from a few days at our favorite place to get away to when we need to relax... the Admiral's Quarters Inn in Boothbay Harbor, ME. It was Olivia's first trip. We think she liked it. She definitely liked the owners, and part of our extended family, Les and Deb. Deb gave her a new teddy bear that she is having a lot of fun with. She is feeling much better. Unfortunately, Noel is sick now. I'm hoping that I'm not next! I have heard that Moms aren't allowed to get sick.. there is no time for it!

Olivia is trying really hard to walk. She stands independently all the time now, and often takes a step or two. Twice she has taken 4 or 5 steps. Yikes!

I absolutely love this picture of Olivia! I had to share it!

Let's see....

Just trying to post something to see if I know what I am doing! Ok, I don't know what I am doing, but I am trying to learn. Olivia is feeling MUCH better today. Still very congested, and a little cranky, but no more fever! YEAH!!

Sick again

We spent the better part of this weekend tending to a sick Olivia. Saturday we ended up going to her pediatrician's office and the doctor gave us amoxycillin based on the very small amount of fluid in her right ear. Jen had a terrific thought this morning that it might even be something like strep throat and when I checked the baby books all the symptoms check out. The other thing that told me this might not be a cold was the fever that she has had for the past 48 hours. Let me just say that the worst feeling in the world is watching your child wail in pain after vomiting and knowing that there is very little you can do about it. :-(

Today she was much better, although she still slept more than usual. Hopefully, tomorrow will be a much better day. By the way, I just added a calendar component to the page that we can use to keep track our Olivia's progress as she grows up. Once Jen gets her access squared away, I'm sure she will be very busy trying to update the calendar with the significant events in Olivia's life to date. (I wonder how long it will keep all that information for me?)

This is the first post of the rest of this blog

It has been a very long time coming, but I finally have something that Jennifer, Olivia, and I can use to keep our family and friends in-the-loop. At this point our precious little peanut is 10 months along and has cut her third tooth. Unfortunately, she picked up a cold in the process as well. As Jennifer and I become more familiar with how to use this, we'll add more content such as pictures and videos of our family exploits. In the meantime, enjoy the new blog. For those who couldn't get to the original birth announcement, I included it as a link on the right side.
